For as long as I can remember as young child, I would hear my mother
say, “don’t throw away those table scraps — put them in the bowl for
the dog.” I distinctly remember our pets very rarely visiting the vet,
neither do I remember them being infested with fleas, nor do I remember
them being susceptible to many of the diseases affecting our pets
today. Our family dog lived to be 18 years old — he died of old age.
So
what’s changed? Why are we led to believe that table scraps are “not
good“ for our pets and why are we led to believe that the ONLY pet food
our companion animals should eat HAS to be purchased from a pet store,
developed by the “experts” in the form of dried heat processed kibble?
Food
the “professionals” (including many veterinarians) say is
“nutritionally developed” for our pets. Why is it that 40 years ago,
the rate in which our pets died of cancer or other such debilitating
diseases was almost unheard of, compared to the death rate of our pets
today.
which include
ensuring “we” the general public believe that ONLY “pet food companies”
have the expertise to develop pet food, in what they describe as a
“balanced/ nutritional blend of ingredients to
promote good health.”
My
question is — if that is the case, then why are many of our pets
undernourished and being subjected to some of the most horrific,
crippling and debilitating diseases never heard of 40+ years ago!? The
reality is that commercial pet food companies are simply preparing
“convenience” pet food which fits in nicely with our “fast food
society.”
Today’s commercial pet foods (which include the best
known and expensive brands) contain very little beneficial nutritional
value for our pets. They include some of the most unhealthy
ingredients, such as chemical preservatives (BHA/BHT) known to cause
cancer; many by-products (ingredients not fit for human consumption)
like road kill, diseased farm animals, euthanized pets/cats/birds —
including beaks, claws, diseased/decaying meats — all sprayed with
blood/grease to encourage our pets to eat it!
Feeding our pets
such inferior food on a daily basis causes toxins to accumulate within
the body, thus contributing significantly to the weakening of the
immune system, and renders our pets susceptible to these chronic
debilitating diseases.
The average family simply does not have
time to prepare home cooked meals for their families, so our pets have
even less chance of receiving a proper diet. However, for those of you
who simply do not have the time or the know-how, there are many pet
food companies who have made a commitment to our companion animals.
They ensure that the preparation of their pet foods include wholesome
ingredients, including nothing but the best Human Grade ingredients
(meats, fish, poultry, a variety of vegetables), natural preservatives,
as well as a variety of vitamins and mineral supplements designed to
promote
Excellent health for our “best friends” — these foods
are being labeled, “super premium pet foods or holistic/natural pet
foods.”
Don’t you think your companion animal deserves to be fed the best that is available (or at least close to it)?
After
all, they give us all the unconditional love and loyalty we could ever
need, they do not have the choices of food they can eat as they would
had they lived in the wild like most of their ancestors. Instead, they
rely on us to provide for them the best feeding/nutritionally sound
diets on a daily basis, so why not repay them for their unconditional
love and loyalty. Give them what they truly deserve!
Ensure
their diet consists of the best nutrition available so that they will
live the longest, happiest and healthiest lives possible.
